One of our members shared the following requests:(1) Timothy Simoneaux, age 13. The Simoneauxs are missionaries to Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. Timothy has bacterial meningitis and is currently in Malawi. He was unresponsive for 2 days, is on a respirator, and his brain is swelling. He was taken to a hospital in South Africa. His mother is greatly relieved - beginning test results were back and all are positive! 1. The CT Scan completed showed no pressure on the brain; no air bubbles; no abscesses - all are good signs.2. Timothy is still on the ventilator and will remain on it for a couple of days to assist with his breathing.3. The doctor is keeping him in a medically induced coma for the next 2-3 days.(2) Jeff Shoucair - fell from a loft and has suffered severe brain injury. The impact from the fall caused several skull fractures in the front and base of his skull. He also fractured the bones on the left side of his face. He is currently resting in a drug induced coma and probably won't be awakened for several days. After the fall, there was a point in time when his brain was not receiving oxygen. A recent brain scan showed signs of damage to the brain. Until he wakes up, there is no way of knowing the extent of the damage or which functions will be affected.

Thank You, Father, for the lessons of hope that we find in Your word. When tragedies happen, we are confident that You are in control and even when we can't see the evidence of it, we can be certain that You are always there. Help us to trust You even when deliverance seems so far away. Gracious Father, surprise us once again with breathtaking demonstrations of Your mercy and faithfulness. Work through these incidents to accomplish Your divine purpose in each life. Draw near to the families who wait anxiously for any signs of recovery. Cover them with Your grace and let them feel Your perfect peace. We lift all praise and thanks to You, in Jesus' name, Amen.

"As a mother comforts a child, so will I comfort you." Isaiah 66:13

PRAY THE VOTE

ReminderFrom the Presidential Prayer Team
"I know, my God, that You test the heart and are pleased with integrity. Keep this desire in the hearts of Your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to You." I Chronicles 29:17
O Father God, in You is all truth and integrity. You are glorious and righteous, and You do not deceive us or hide from us. We are thankful that we can fully trust in You. You remain steadfast to Your promises; may Your people desire to do the same. We pray today for You to move across our nation with a longing for integrity and righteousness among our people. We especially pray that those who run for office, and those who are elected this year, will be persons of integrity. Father, You alone know the hearts of each candidate and what motivates them to seek public office. May they be led by Your spirit to move willingly, with honest intent, toward the elections and the administrations that result from them. May they understand that You are sovereign over the kingdoms of men and You have given them authority. Amen.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY:Isaiah 54:17
"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
"If we will honor God and keep his commandments and live as we should, no matter where the storms may strike, the winds may blow, and the lightnings may flash, we will be as the children of God always have been when they have kept his commandments: we will be under the protecting hand of him who is all powerful" (The Teachings of George Albert Smith).

The physician will not accept Jaime's insurance. Please be praying that God will direct her to another physician so she can have the MRI.

Lord, like the Good Shepherd, we are confident that You have gone ahead to prepare the way for Jaime. Remove every obstacle and hold her in comfort and safety in the days ahead. We praise You and thank You for Your love and tender mercies. In Your precious name we pray, Amen.>>> Linda Davenport 7/23/2008 10:06 AM >>>

Please be praying for Jaime who has been suffering with severe migraine headaches, with pain that begins at the crown of her head and go down the back of her neck causing a burning sensation. A family member died from a brain tumor, so her physician has scheduled an MRI tomorrow.
Her mother wrote "One thing I know for certain, our Heavenly Father already knows what it is and no one should panic. I ask that you pray for God to put all the right people in place for her and that the tests performed will be accurate. Thank you so much for your prayers."

Lord, we are so humbled by the thought that You are the Shepherd of our souls. You are always waiting patiently and lovingly for us to share our lives and our concerns with You. In faith we lift Jaime before You today, praying that she would feel Your tender touch and reassurance. Lord, we ask that You would direct her care and that You would cover her with Your grace. Work through this situation to accomplish Your divine purpose and keep her in Your tender care. In Your precious name we pray, Amen.

I trust in God, I know He cares for me,
On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
Tho' billows roll, He keeps my soul,
My heavenly Father watches over me.

The valley may be dark, the shadows deep
But O, The Shepherd guards His lonely sheep;
And thru the gloom, He'll lead me home -
My heavenly Father watches over me.

Prayers for our Country and the Election

This is the scariest election we as Christians have ever faced and from the looks of the polls, the Christians aren't voting Christian values.
We all need to be on our knees.
Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders to behold.
This Scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it. I challenge you to do so. We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, which are called by My name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. "
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America ..
The United States of America and our citizens need prayer more than ever !!!
If you would like to participate:
each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time
(8:00 PM Central,
7:00 PM Mountain,
6:00 PM Pacific),
stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, for peace in the world, the upcoming election, that the Bible will remain the basis for the laws governing our land and that Christianity will grow in the US. Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. God Bless You !!! GOD BLESS AMERICA ! ! !

A Parable of Immortality

I
am
standing
upon the sea-
shore. A ship at
my side spreads his
white sails to the morning
breeze and starts for the blue
ocean. He is an object of beauty
and strength, and I stand and watch,
until at last he hangs like a speck of white
cloud just where the sea and sky come together.
Someone at my side says aloud, “There he goes.”
Goes where? Gone from my sight -- that is all. He is
just as
large
in mast and hull and spar, and just as able to bear his load of living freight to the place of destination as he was when he left my side. His diminished size is in me, not in him. And just
at that moment when we say, “There he goes,” other eyes are watching him coming, and
other voices are ready to take up the
glad shout, “Here he comes!”

Man has appetites and human frailties to master and conquer. The human, Godlike mind must be trained to be in full control of the soul and life of man. Fear and the appetites too often creep in and crush out the control of the mind. Self-control and self-mastery in righteousness is the real joy of this life."

Prayer Warriors

July 22, 2008

Jesus turned around and said to her, "Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed at that moment.
Matthew 9:22 (New Living Translation)

Dear Heavenly Father, I awkoke to find this daily verse on the computer and I believe you were speaking to me of Jaime. That all will be well. I claim that Father in faith and thank you that the waiting for the test results will anxious free, for thou hast given me an answer . I love you Father, TY. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

July 21, 2008

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for today. It has been a true challenge. I have missed the mark in some areas and I ask forgiveness and wisdom to do it better next time. I prayed and you answered my prayer (TY TY TY)that Kasey could go to the vacation bible school at the church I would like to attend on a regular basis. Father, if you could make that happen for me as well, I would be greatful. She learned her Bible verse for today. Psalm 150 : 1 & 2 Praise the LORD! Praise Him for His mighty acts. It was sweet how she raised her arms to show strength (muscle) when she voiced "mighty".

Mother too, has been good today. She still forgot alot and put her slacks on backwards, but that she is able to dress herself, still walk, feed herself , and still show concern for others is such a blessing. One day Lord before she returns home to you she may be past that capability. Forgive my impatience at answering her questions for the 100th time over and over again and thank you for the people you give me to listen to me groan. Sharing my thoughts and anxiety with them helps me cope.

Our cousin Raney is still with us Father. May the remaining time he has be comforting to him and Jean and his sisters. Love flows and though he asks for no tears, they cannot help but be sad that it will be a long while before they see him again. Thankfully all of our homes will be with you in heaven. I ask your blessing Father, in the name of your son Jesus. Keep us safe from the harm of Satan.

I pray for my daughters and granchildren Father. I don't have the means to see them often, talk with them. Please watch over them and guide them in your Sons footsteps, that they may all know, love and serve you with their whole mind, body and spirit.
Especially hold Jaime close to you now, as we wait for the neurological tests to be completed on her headaches. Help us not to fear and jump to conclusions and wait and rest in you. Only you can bless her Father, giving her good people to make her well and help her on this journey, just as you have for Allyson and Naomi. You never fail us Father, never. Our home is with you, abiding in you, you are faithful to forgive our failings and you bless us with a chance to grow and make ourselves like your Son Jesus. We too, are your sons and daughters.

In all things Father, we give you thanks and praise. Let the Holy Spirit continue to talk and guide us and help us to be still to hear His voice. We ask all things and pray all things in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen.

One of our members has requested prayer for her father who will be moving from New York to live with her. He will be leaving with his grandson on Thursday, so please be praying for safe travel. Also be praying that her father can adjust easily to all the changes that are taking place in his life. Father, we are so grateful for the parents who cared for us when we were young and for the privilege of caring for them as they grow older. We pray for Your grace and mercy to cover this father and grandson as they travel from New York. Protect them from every danger and deliver them safely to their destination. We pray for this father as he faces the inevitable changes in his life, asking that You would help him to adjust to his new home with his daughter. May the love they have for each other be greater than any obstacle they may face. Hold them in Your tender care, in Jesus' name. Amen.

July 19, 2008 Our cousin Raney

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that Raney's health is fading fast. I am leaving this morning to go down. He is in Hospice House since Tuesday, I think. From what I understand, he will not be leaving there to go back home. His legs, especially, are swollen so bad that he can't turn over in bed. He seems confused to me. I talked to him Thursday afternoon and he kept saying something about a truck. Janie said she talked to him and he talked about traffic. Maybe it is the medicine, but he has always been so alert before when I talked to him and except for a few grunts once in a while (from discomfort), you wouldn't know he was sick just from talking to him on the phone. He has been able to carry on a good conversation and for the most part, his voice sounded pretty strong.

Please pray for Raney. All I ask today is that you lift him before the Lord and ask that Gods' will be done, but to give him a peace that passes all understanding. I know he has made his preparation to make Heaven his home and I find comfort in that. Pray for Jean. She has been by his side and taking care of him from the day they met almost. She is such a blessing and I know this has been so hard for her to see him go through things that we can't even imagine. Pray for Shirley (my sister) and me as we travel today to be with him.

Thank you all for all your prayers so far and being so supportive. I know I have been so blessed through all of this with the help given me by Michael & Rebecca, Mary, Rhonda, and Brian. If it had not been for their help financially and their encouragement, I would not have been able to be with Raney as much as I have. I have received so many undeserved blessings. And I could not even begin to thank them or the rest of you for prayers and support..........THANK YOU FROM THE VERY BOTTOM OF MY HEART! You are all such BLESSINGS.

Love,

Ginger

  • Please be praying for someone who feels "under attack", especially related to employment.
  • Lord, we are so grateful that You were willing to suffer for our sake. You were despised and rejected, acquainted with grief. Often it seems that as we strive to grow closer to You, we encounter hardships on every front. Grant us faith like that of Habakkuk, a righteous man whose words invite us to trust You even in the most painful situations, and to praise You despite our suffering. Lord, lift our eyes beyond what we can see today to the glorious things You have prepared for us. Bless this believer in a special way and use this situation to accomplish Your divine purpose. Be strength and comfort and encouragement to all who place their trust in You. In Your blessed name we pray, Amen.
  • "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the feels produce no food, yet will I rejoice in the Lord; I will be joyful in God, my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength." Habakkus 3:17
  • I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea com drifting home with broken masts and sails;I shall believe the Hand which never fails, Who from seeming evil worketh good to me.And though I weep because those sails are battered,Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered,"I trust in Thee." ~ Ella Wheeler Wilcox 1850-1919 ~

  • Please be praying for Donna in North Carolina who is undergoing treatment for cancer and is suffering severe and prolonged nausea from chemotherapy and radiation.
  • Father, thank You for the comfort that is immediately available when we draw near to You. Through the power of Your spirit we are united in this intercessory ministry and we are privileged to pray for those whose needs are made known to us. In faith and obedience we lift the suffering that Donna has endured for so long and lay it at Your feet. Just as You have faithfully comforted us, we pray that You would bring comfort and reassurance to her. May she feel Your presence and experience the fullness of Your blessed peace. Father, grant Your divine wisdom and compassion to the physicians who are directing her care. Work through this illness to achieve Your divine purpose and may all thanks and praise be Yours, in Jesus' name. Amen."
  • All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort through Christ." 2 Corinthians 1:3

July 15, 2008 Tuesday
Please keep Kasey's Great~Uncle Tim in you prayers. We just learned he had a massive heart attack over the week-end. Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Terry drove up from Florida. Doctors are having a consult today to determine if he is strong enough for by-pass surgery or if they will do angioplasty. He is in Akron City hospital.
"Heavenly Father, we lift Tim and his family before you, that you may have mercy and grace for each heart to bare this burden and bring about healing. May you send a legion of angels to whisper words of sweet comfort to Tim and the family and words of wisdom to guide those caring for his needs. In Jesus name we ask and pray." And we all said "Amen".

July 9, 2008 Raney
Hi Everyone,

I talked to Jean a while ago. I had misunderstood about Raney being taken off the cumadin (blood thinner). I assumed when she told Janie the doctor had taken him off of it, that it was a permanent thing. Not true! She said they go every few days for a blood check. Since it was so dangerously thin (800) they took him off it. When he goes back for the next blood check, if it is low enough, they will adjust the dosage, but will put him back on it. I was relieved to hear that. I know the blood being too thin is very dangerous, but I also know that without the cumadin, the clotting will get worse and that will also be very dangerous.

They talked about having Hospice start to come in. She said Raney was ready for it and she was also relieved because she was so afraid she might do something unknowingly that might hurt Raney and she couldn't bear that. She said that the Hospice people would be a help to Raney with some concerns he has that she can't answer. I am sure they can make it easier on her, too, by explaining some things and just having their knowledge there with them. I think she said they would meet with Hospice on Thursday.

The news isn't the best, but I feel better now. I guess I should ask more questions instead of assuming or thinking the worst. Raney still has a good appetite. Jean says he is eating like a "little pig". (ha)

Love to all,
Ginger

"Heavenly Father, we thank you for todays blessings and that Raney is till able to eat and enjoy food. May the nourishment it brings help to fight the cancer for we know there are foods that you have provided to help fight cancer. Thank you for the good folks at Hospice, everywhere. What a priviliged job you have given them. Thay re indeed living angels of mercy and reassurance. That Raney should decide it was time and help Jean take the best possible care of Raney will help her with the burden of ever thinking she did something to set Raney's recovery back. You do indeed take care of us Heavenly Father, providing each of us to help the other through this world until we come home to You. All praise and thanksgiving to you Almighty Father for your love and tender care. In Jesus name we ask and pray all things, Amen."

May our prayers bring a measure of strength & God's blessing Love, Cathy

Please continue praying for Raney and his family. He continues to lose weight and is growing weaker. He is at home and is cared for by his loving wife.

" Gracious Lord, when we come to the end of ourselves, we come to the beginning of You. When we have exhausted our resources, You will meet each need out of Your glorious resources. Raney and his family find strength in the knowledge that You are preparing a place for those who love and trust You, a place where there is no more pain, no more tears and no more sorrow. Hold them in the hollow of Your hand and cover them with Your grace and peace. In Your name we pray, Amen."

>>> Linda Davenport 6/23/2008 9:04 AM >>>I just received an update from one of our members for her cousin for whom we have been praying. Raney is undergoing chemotherapy and has been hospitalized with complications (one of his arms was swollen twice its normal size). The doctor suspects it is a blood clot. He has lost a lot of weight and with the complications, the doctor may stop the chemotherapy.
"Lord, we praise You for Your great mercy. You are our refuge in times of great distress and our hope in every situation. We stand together in faith as we lift Raney and his family before you today. May they hear Your whisper of love and reassurance, and may they rest in peace as only You can give. Bless them and keep them, in Your precious name. Amen"

>>> Linda Davenport 5/30/2008 3:34 PM >>>Please continue to pray for Raney who is being treated for cancer of the liver and pancreas. I was relieved to hear the tumors are growing smaller. There was no change in the pancreas, but there also was no sign of it spreading. I claim it's due to everyone's prayers. I praise and thank God for every measure of blessing He bestows. My prayers are for the prayers warriors. We have no need to worry, for we can change nothing. They will give him a 10 day rest, then start with chemo again. Thank you so much for your prayers.

"O God, our help in ages past, You are the one true source of Hope, our Refuge, our Deliverer. Only in You will our souls find rest, for "the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders. Grant us faith and courage to entrust all things to You. We unite our hearts in prayer for this request, seeking Your blessed provision and healing, according to Your divine purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen."
When we have nothing left but God, we become aware that God is enough." ~ Agnes Royden 1876 ~

>>>Linda Davenport 5/5/2008 3:42 PM>>>One of our members has sent the following request. Please add Raney to your prayer lists:...............Dear Linda, Please ask the prayer warriors to pray for my cousin Raney (liver and pancreatic cancer). We know Jesus came to us as a healer. Our belief in Him is steadfast and we yearn to touch the hem of His garment and know He will heal us. Please ask for strength for endurance, rest from the pain, and peace in our souls that Christ is our Lord & Redeemer. Love, Cate
Philippians 1:21~24 "For to me, living means opportunities for Christ and dying---well, that's better yet! But if living will give me more opportunities to win people to Christ, then I really don't know which is better, to live or die! Sometimes I want to live and at other times I don't, for I long to go and be with Christ. How much happier for ME than being here! But the fact is that I can be of more help to YOU by staying."
These words by St. Paul help me realize there is a perfect life waiting, but our work here is in accordance with God's will. Perhaps my cousin's sufferings here will give him a witness and testimony for other cancer patients. Where there is life there is hope! Our Lord is a healer!!
" Dear Heavenly Father, as Raney's family gather and support a loved one so dear, hearts are broken by the suffering and pain he endures to get well, to live life with his dear wife, Jean. We lift them up to you Father, to bless and bestow your tender mercies. We are your children Lord. Let us offer our sufferings and pain along with your Son Jesus' suffering and pain for us. We know to continue to thank You and praise You in our circumstances, good and bad, this is your will in Christ Jesus concerning us. To pray without ceasing. We know, Father, that you are faithful. You send us the Comforter to live within our heart, soul and mind. We praise and thank you for Raney, the loving family you have provided him. We ask, that you give wisdom to hi caretakers and surround them with faith, hope and love. In Jesus name we ask and pray. Amen"

One of our members is requesting prayer for her mother who continues to have health problems related to seizures and loss of memory. There is a family history of Alzheimer's. She saw a physician yesterday who ordered an EEG and suggested she see another physician for a second opinion as well. Please also pray about a problematic relationship between this woman and her daughter.
"Father, we acknowledge that You work in mysterious and wonderful ways. You can use times of illness and suffering to bring more than physical healing; you can work through these circumstances to also heal family relationships. In faith and obedience we pray for this family as they struggle to find solutions and compassionate treatment for their mother. Direct them to a physician who is concerned for the well being of the patient as well as those who will provide care for her. Guide them through this process, in Jesus' name. Amen"

~~~~~~~~~~~
One of our members is requesting the prayers of the warriors as she pursues the purchase of a home for herself and her son. The lease is up on her current home this month and she has made an offer on a house that just became available. She asks that the warriors "lift this decision from my shoulders. If God intends for me to have this house, please let it happen as His will.
"Father, as a single mother I understand the significance of this purchase. This woman has surrendered her life to Your care and she has seen the power of prayer at work. You protected her and her son during her treatment for cancer; You provided a home for them when her marriage failed. You have directed her steps and she has learned to trust You more and more. We have made this journey with her and thank You for the privilege of lifting her many times before You in our prayers. Once again we joyfully lift this decision from her shoulders and pray for Your divine purpose to be accomplished. May the taproot of her faith grow deeper yet as You meet every need. Bless her and keep her, in Jesus' name. Amen
****"Your Maker is your husband - the Lord Almighty is His name. He will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit. The Lord says, 'With everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you. Your sons will be taught by the Lord and great will be your children's peace.' " Isaiah 54
"Mom had surgery on Wednesday and she did great. We went back to the doctor on Thursday and he said that everything is where it is supposed to be and that she was doing good. Tomorrow we go back for the one week appointment. Hopefully we continue on the same path! She has her next surgery on the 14th.
"Father, thank You for this wonderful report and for Your tender mercies that are new every morning. We lift all praise to You as we trust for continued healing and another successful surgery next week. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
Linda Davenport 7/1/2008 4:55 PM >>>One of our members is requesting prayer for her mother who is having her first cataract surgery tomorrow; the second surgery will be on the 14th. Please also be remembering this daughter as she takes on additional responsibilities in the next few weeks.Father, we are grateful for the many ways You have blessed us, especially for the parents who gave us life and for the privilege of caring for them in their last years. We join our hearts and prayers with this family and pray Your protection upon this woman during these surgical procedures. Touch her with Your grace and healing to restore her vision. Be with her daughter during the weeks of recuperation that she will be intuitive regarding her mother's needs. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Prayer Request and Update on Raney
July 22, 2008
Hello Everyone,
Just to let you know that I got back home today from my trip to Arkansas to see Raney.
This will be pretty short because I have to go to bed since I have to work tonight. I got down on Saturday afternoon, around 1:30pm. I started from home around 3:30am. I went to Janie's first and then we left right away after I gave everyone hugs and went potty. We got to Hospice House in Mountain Home around 5pm. Shirley was already there from Fort Smith. Raney was awake, but was a little confused. He knew us though. Come to find out, he had refused to take his full dosage of pain medicine because he knew we were on our way and wanted to be able to see us and talk to us some. (He was so weak that it was hard for him to really have a conversation with us....just a few words at a time, then he would fall asleep). Bless his heart, even though we know that this was the last time we will actually see him alive, he managed to give us some precious memories, very cute and just RANEY. Every once in a while, when we would look at him, he would just break into the most precious grin. It was something that no one could describe. He just had that little angelic/mischievious grin that was so precious to us. One time Jean was feeding him and talking to him and trying to talk to us too. She had given him a bite and then put more food on the fork and asked him if he wanted another bite. She almost put it in his mouth and he gave her the cutest look and said "Can I finish chewing this first?" You would have to have been there to appreciate it. He was so cute. We all burst out laughing. Shirley, Janie, and I all got our chance to talk to him and tell him by and that we love him. He knew us and was able to tell us he loved us back. I am so glad I got to go over the weekend instead of waiting.
I called Jean so they would know that I made it home safe and sound. I asked her how he was doing today and she said he was alot worse. He had a bad night and today he is not responding. He isn't in a coma, really, because he will kind of rouse around a little when they turn him or move him in some way, but he isn't talking to anyone, not even Jean, he is going right back to sleep. The doctor took him off some of his meds because they aren't doing anything for him. But he said he is not in pain. (So thankful for that) Janie called Hospice today and they called her back after getting the report from the doctor. She asked how much longer he has. Yesterday, the doctor said 2 to 4 weeks. Today he says 2 to 3 days. Of course, he also says it could be less or more, only God knows that for sure. They have moved him to a room directly across from the nurse's station so they will be able to get to him more quickly or to help Jean and be there with her should anything happen with nobody with her.
All of the people at the Hospice House have got to be Angels. They are so sweet and so caring, not only to Raney, but to Jean and to all of us. Before I left yesterday, the Social Worker gave me a hug and told me to be very careful going down the hill and curves and then gave me a kiss. Shirley left when I did and she did the same with her and then gave us a "group hug". The nurses were wonderful. I never once saw a frown, a look of aggravation about ANYTHING, no matter what they were doing and had to go help someone. They were funny and made Raney laugh. Jean said everyone of them has at one time or another come and put their arms around her and prayed with her about Raney......a genuine concern and love for people who are hurting.
I will try to let you all know when the inevitable happens, but I might have to leave so quickly that I won't be able to get to everyone. If that happens, please forgive me. I will be sure to get the message out when I get back home.
Steve (Jean's son) and his girlfriend came in Sunday afternoon for probably a week at least. Don and Patsy (Jeans son and daugher-in-law) are either coming on Wednesday or leaving from Dixon on Wednesday. So they will be with her to help her. I am so glad of that. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I consider myself fortunate that I got 2 days of leave of absence to go down this weekend. I will have 3 days of funeral leave when Raney passes and I am hoping I can get another day or 2 of leave.
Please continue to pray for Raney and Jean and for the rest of us that God will give us the strength we need to make it through this. We would still take a miracle, but if God is wanting to take him home now, we just ask that He take him with as little pain and suffering as possible and to be with us to bear the loss of our sweet brother.
Love,
Ginger
July 21, 2008
Please continue to pray for Raney and his family. I received the following note from a member of his family: "It seems the Lord has decided to take Raney home. I ask for prayers that peace may be with the family and though we are sad, the angels are excited - a brother is coming home. Rest and a complete healing, a new body like Christ's and a spirit that soars free from earthly bonds. I have long felt that weare born into our mother's arms and die into our Father's - His hands are so much stronger and His love divine. Thank you for your prayers. They are most appreciated."
"The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me — the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me. And the prize is not just for me, but for all who eagerly look forward to His return." Update from Ginger on Raney
I got home last night around 11:15 pm. It was such a short trip that I am so tired, but it was worth it. Shirley and Scott(nephew) came from Fort Smith and of course, Janie and Joby were there from Jonesboro. I spend the night with Janie on Thursday night and then we went over Friday morning to Raney & Jean's. I stayed Friday night with them since I would be leaving on Saturday. We all had a good visit Friday. Shirley had to leave Friday late afternoon because she had to work Saturday. Janie and Joby went home after Shirley left. Raney, Jean, and I had a good visit, too, after all were gone. Raney gets so tired that he sleeps most of the time. But Jean and I had some good time together just talking about everything. I am so glad Raney has her. She is soooooo good to him. It was so sad to leave yesterday because it may be the last time I see him alive. I tried to hold back the tears, but I couldn't help to let a few drop. Raney said "No tears, I'll be ok." I told him I knew God was with him, so I knew he would be OK. It was still sad because I can't imagine Raney not being there to talk to and visit. But like I told Jean, God will give us all the strength we need, because I thought I couldn't bear to lose Daddy, Mother, Lora, or Sid, but although I miss them, God has given me the strength to go on and I wouldnt' call them back if I could...not when I know they will never have to suffer in any way again. Raney is losing alot of weight, but it doesn't show quite so bad when he is sitting in his chair. His little fingers are so thin and he shakes alot........from being so weak I suppose. That is hard for me to watch, because he has always been so strong.Well, I better go. I have to do laundry after being gone all weekend. I have to work tonight, so I still have to get a nap.Love,Ginger
Please continue praying for Raney and his family. He continues to lose weight and is growing weaker. He is at home and is cared for by his loving wife.
"Gracious Lord, when we come to the end of ourselves, we come to the beginning of You. When we have exhausted our resources, You will meet each need out of Your glorious resources. Raney and his family find strength in the knowledge that You are preparing a place for those who love and trust You, a place where there is no more pain, no more tears and no more sorrow. Hold them in the hollow of Your hand and cover them with Your grace and peace. In Your name we pray, Amen."
>>> Linda Davenport 6/23/2008 9:04 AM >>>I just received an update from one of our members for her cousin for whom we have been praying. Raney is undergoing chemotherapy and has been hospitalized with complications (one of his arms was swollen twice its normal size). The doctor suspects it is a blood clot. He has lost a lot of weight and with the complications, the doctor may stop the chemotherapy. Lord, we praise You for Your great mercy. You are our refuge in times of great distress and our hope in every situation. We stand together in faith as we lift Raney and his family before you today. May they hear Your whisper of love and reassurance, and may they rest in peace as only You can give. Bless them and keep them, in Your precious name. Amen >>> Linda Davenport 5/30/2008 3:34 PM >>>Please continue to pray for Raney who is being treated for cancer of the liver and pancreas. "I was relieved to hear the tumors are growing smaller. There was no change in the pancreas, but there also was no sign of it spreading. I claim it's due to everyone's prayers. I praise and thank God for every measure of blessing He bestows. My prayers are for the prayers warriors. We have no need to worry, for we can change nothing. They will give him a 10 day rest, then start with chemo again. Thank you so much for your prayers."O God, our help in ages past, You are the one true source of Hope, our Refuge, our Deliverer. Only in You will our souls find rest, for "the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders." Grant us faith and courage to entrust all things to You. We unite our hearts in prayer for this request, seeking Your blessed provision and healing, according to Your divine purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen."When we have nothing left but God, we become aware that God is enough." ~ Agnes Royden 1876 ~>>>Linda Davenport 5/5/2008 3:42 PM>>>One of our members has sent the following request. Please add Raney to your prayer lists:...............Dear Linda, Please ask the prayer warriors to pray for my cousin Raney (liver and pancreatic cancer). We know Jesus came to us as a healer. Our belief in Him is steadfast and we yearn to touch the hem of His garment and know He will heal us. Please ask for strength for endurance, rest from the pain, and peace in our souls that Christ is our Lord & Redeemer. Love, CatePhilippians 1:21~24 "For to me, living means opportunities for Christ and dying---well, that's better yet! But if living will give me more opportunities to win people to Christ, then I really don't know which is better, to live or die! Sometimes I want to live and at other times I don't, for I long to go and be with Christ. How much happier for ME than being here! But the fact is that I can be of more help to YOU by staying."These words by St. Paul help me realize there is a perfect life waiting, but our work here is in accordance with God's will. Perhaps my cousin's sufferings here will give him a witness and testimony for other cancer patients. Where there is life there is hope! Our Lord is a healer!! Dear Heavenly Father, as Raney's family gather and support a loved one so dear, hearts are broken by the suffering and pain he endures to get well, to live life with his dear wife, Jean. We lift them up to you Father, to bless and bestow your tender mercies. We are your children Lord. Let us offer our sufferings and pain along with your Son Jesus' suffering and pain for us. We know to continue to thank You and praise You in our circumstances, good and bad, this is your will in Christ Jesus concerning us. To pray without ceasing. We know, Father, that you are faithful. You send us the Comforter to live within our heart, soul and mind. We praise and thank you for Raney, the loving family you have provided him. We ask, that you give wisdom to hi caretakers and surround them with faith, hope and love. In Jesus name we ask and pray. AmenHello Everyone,
Janie called me this noon to tell me that she had just talked to Jean. Jean took Raney to the doctor this morning. I am not sure if it was for blood check or exactly what. But they are taking him off the cumadin (blood thinner) because his blood was 800 and should be 200. (800 is dangerously high) They said any little nick could cause severe bleeding. Of course, now, the blood clots will be getting worse. She said they told her to be very careful that he does not fall. He is very weak now so she is getting his potty chair out so she can put it next to him when needed so he won't have to walk down the hallway and he is using a walker, too, now when he walks. She did say that if that number 800 goes down, things could be different tomorrow, but the blood clots still worry me. I don't know if they will put him back on the cumadin if that number goes down to a number closer to 200. He is still eating pretty good and his blood sugar was pretty good over the weekend.
Please continue to pray for Raney and for Jean. Jean is talking of calling in Hospice now. She wasn't going to unless Raney requested it, but she is afraid for him and can't stand the thought that she might do something to hurt him. We are so very thankful for Jean. We all know she would never do anything to hurt Raney in any way on purpose. So pray for her also because this is alot on her physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Love to all,
Ginger
Someone Is Praying for You
There are times that the storms of life leave us feeling weary of body, mind and soul.
Our family has weathered such a time since March when our niece Whitney was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Prayers sustained us through Whitney's three surgeries and radioactive iodine therapy, and her mother's complete nervous breakdown requiring a month long hospitalization and specialized treatment. There are still many uncertain days ahead, but we rejoice in the many ways God has blessed us through this incredible experience. Last evening as I prepared for bed, I turned on my clock radio to set the alarm. The words of an old hymn were playing softly and I stood there in my bedroom with tears streaming down my face as I thanked God for the miracle of prayer. There have been moments that we doubted that we had the strength to face another crisis or the responsibilities of another day, but God's grace is greater than our suffering and we are comforted by the knowledge that countless people are praying for us. We will be eternally grateful for your prayers and words of encouragement.Whatever the circumstances of your life today, whenever you have come to the end of your physical and spiritual resources, there is hope. God intended for us to bear one another's burdens and that is what we are doing when we pray. Our hearts have been knit together by God's spirit and we have been called to participate in this incredible intercessory ministry. We are blessed each time we lift a request before God and blessed when others do the same for us.
I thought you might enjoy listening to the Heritage Singers performing the hymn, "Someone Is Praying For You". www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMVZ9jfDv50
Somewhere someone's prayingDown upon their knees,
Lifting you before the ThroneWith love and gentle pleas.
Asking God to give you strengthTo face another day,
And when the night is darkest toShine light upon your way.
Somewhere someone's kneeling
To whisper your name in prayer,
Knowing that you need to feel
God's love and tender care.
They intercede on your behalf
Because they love you so,
Knowing that you have a need
To their Father they will go.
They pray when you're not able
To speak a single word,
What peace there is in knowing
Their prayers will be heard.
They lay you on the altar
As they kneel there at His feet,
Giving all your cares to Him
There at the mercy seat.
Our God is always listening
To every earnest prayer,
When we look to Him for help
The answer is always there.
It's such a comfort knowing
That someone prays for you;
Placed within His loving hands
Those prayers will see you through.
As you kneel before the Father,
Thank Him for those who care.
When you bow before the mercy seat
Whisper their name in prayer.
Freedom Isn't Free
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
TRUE Freedom
READ Romans 6:11-18
In New York Harbor stands the Statue of Liberty.
This world-renowned icon symbolizes the freedom that Americans cherish.
We seek to spread this freedom to the oppressed around the globe.
Yet even in the “land of the free,” many individuals are held captive by sinful habits and mind-sets.
A country’s liberty usually depends upon military might and governmental decrees.
However, personal freedom has to do with a decision to protect the heart, mind, and body from evil influences.
In a nation built upon independence, we call ourselves “free” as long as we aren’t in jail or somehow prevented from pursuing our interests.
But is the man bent upon revenge “liberated”?
Is the woman addicted to painkillers “free”?
The Enemy’s arsenal contains all kinds of temptations to occupy one’s time and attention.
The need to attend to these habits, substances, and attitudes consumes a person.
It draws his or her focus away from God.
Then, as the Devil distracts, he also employs one of his greatest deceptions.
Satan convinces people that their chains don’t really exist.
He teaches them how to rationalize that “Just a little won’t hurt”.
Or you begin to outright deny things saying “I can stop anytime I want”.
According to the Bible, men and women are either slaves of God or slaves to sin.
There is no middle ground.
Those serve Satan feeding their selfish impulses.
Meanwhile, the “slaves of God” enjoy true freedom.
They honor the Lord by keeping away from those things that imprison the body, emotions, or thoughts.
A Citizen's Responsibility
READ Deuteronomy 5:7
Several movies have explored the idea of operating in the present while knowing the future. Wouldn’t we all love that?
We could avoid driving down a certain street if we knew a truck was going to hit us.
And stock market fluctuations wouldn’t cause anxiety if we were sure of high returns.
Our loving Father wants His children to act with confidence concerning what’s to come.
That’s why He gives clear direction, promises, and warnings in His Word.
For instance, Micah 5:15 says, “I will take vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed me.”
In contrast, Psalm 33:12 states, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
Which country, knowing these truths, would choose to live in disobedience to Him?
It seems only people set on self-destruction would dare!
Yet we’ve done just this by pushing God out of schools.
We’ve removed the Bible and prayer from many government meetings.
We’ve made laws that defy divine commands.
Sadly, godless ways are making huge inroads in our country.
And, some Christians don’t fight this trend.
Clearly, the Lord will punish nations who disobey Him or follow other gods.
This truth should not make believers fear.
Rather, it must prompt us to take a stand for what is right.
We have serious responsibilities as both citizens and Christians.
*So, first, pray. Ask God for leaders who follow His statues.
*Then explore your sphere of influence.
What can you do to impact these people and exemplify Christ in our country?
RE-Building Passion by Dr. Charles Stanley
READ 1 Timothy 4:15
Some people are drawn by the warmth and appeal of a fire on the hearth.
Just as, some non-believers will be attracted to Christians who are passionate for Jesus Christ.
The Lord wants His followers to be a “city set on a hill”.
He wants the “light of the world,” shining brightly in the darkness.
This can be done with Jesus’ love and message of redemption according to Matthew chapter five.
But, it’s possible for our “fire” to cool, which affects our witness.
If this should happen to you, take steps to re-kindle the flame of passion for your relationship with the Savior.
**First, be aware of where you are.
Is your walk with God less dynamic than it used to be?
**Then, recall where you once were.
Think back to what it was like when you had zeal for the Lord.
**Next, acknowledge that you’ve drifted.
Ask God to speak to you, and read His Word expectantly.
** Spend time daily in prayer.
Don’t just list things you want, but express a desire to really know your heavenly Father.
** Ask the Holy Spirit to help you refocus your attention.
Think about what life can be like when Jesus is at the center.
You will no longer be content with anything less than God’s best.
***The apostle Paul gave Timothy instruction on living a life pleasing to the Father.
Then He added the reminder to be “absorbed” in these things.
**We should also saturate our minds with the principles of God.
The Lord desires that your faith have excitement and fervor.
He’ll use your “fire” to draw others to Himself and to bless you in the process.
KNOWING HEAVENLY FATHER Reading Scripture and keeping a journal of what you learn about Heavenly Father will give me a mental picture of who my Father is.
I have a visual picture of who my earthly father along with physical understanding of his love when he would hug me, tell me when I did a good or bad job and what his expectations of me were.
Taking the time to read about Heavenly Father and who HE is and what He wants of me will give me a better idea of how I should be living for Him. A journal helps keep the focus of His spiritual being and how He loves and cares for me, His child.
Satan will keep my life busy . He doesn't want me ( or anyone else) to have this understanding.
But I must keep in mind, that if I want to feel the warmth and love of my Heavely Father, then I must follow the instructions Dr. Stanley has outlined above.
